You’re Doing it Wrong: Engine Pull.

There are times in life that regardless of how well you prepare, things just simply are not going to go your way. Scenes like this one have played out in garages and backyard shops for years. Some work and others, like this one, do not. What you’re about to see are two guys who are trying to hoist the engine and transmission out of a mid-1980’s Ford F-Series pickup. At first glance, you’ll see that all the right elements for success are in place. The cherry picker was positioned correctly and the grill and headlight assemblies were also successfully removed. This was all well and good except for one little thing – the speedometer cable was still connected. Poor bastards…

That’s even better than what happened to a guy at the dealership I worked for in 1982: He had an engine suspended from a tree branch (or something else that allowed it to dangle in midair). Arriving home one night in a dealer-owned, current-model-year pickup, he somehow managed to hit the suspended engine with one front corner of the pickup.
In fact, he hit it hard enough to get it swinging–so it swung back and hit the truck again (and possibly a third time as well), punching out a headlight, destroying the bezel and grille and not doing the hood and fender any favors either.
