Hitting an animal while driving is never a pleasant experience. They can cause damage, accidents and even worse, fatalities. On State Highway 130, the new 85 mph toll road in Texas, this is becoming a problem as packs of feral hogs cross this stretch of super-slab at all times of the day and night. Authorities are saying it’s not the speed that’s causing these accidents, but that the hogs are smaller and lower to the ground making them more difficult to see. Believe it or not, but there is a bounty being offered by Caldwell County Texas in the amount of $2 per hog. This is being done in the hopes that farmers and ranchers may be able to put a dent in the hog population that seems to be getting out of control.

I had an experience wherein I hit a deer. Sadly, it was due to high speed like 90 mph. From that experience, I’ve learned to drive safely and slower.
