2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ: RideLust Review

One thing about living in a place where custom cars are driven year round is that every so often you see a real gem. This past weekend as I was walking through the streets of San Francisco I came across these two beauties. Atrocity “A” was a mid-1990′s Lexus SC400 with a less than stellar fuschia paint job riding on color coded 28-inch rims. The fender wells looked as though they’d been widened with a Sawzall and the suspension had some of the scariest welds on it that I’ve ever seen. On a high note though this sucker had more ground clearance then a Hummer H1, so if you wanted to go off-road, then this was your baby.

Atrocity “B” was a 1981 Lincoln Continental that had been turned into what some would consider a cross-cabriolet. Believe it or not, but the workmanship on this pimp-tastic ride was leaps and bounds above the Lexus, however the 9-billion watts of less than soothing stereo sound blaring from its blown speakers ruined the entire viewing experience. The cute white dog in the front seat was a nice touch though…
I’ll never understand cars like the first one. Why not just buy a truck?
So I take it you’re enjoying your stay in SF?
