The Transformers Movie has shattered the one-day Box-Office record that was booked by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest. Last year Pirates took in a then record of $15.7 million on its first day of release. This past Tuesday the Transformers Movie made an astounding $27.4 million on its first day of full release. That does not include the $8.8 million that the Transformers made on its limited release on the Monday prior to its full release.

With such a generous leap from the gates the Transformers Movie may have no problem stretching past the $300 Million mark that is the new classification for a true Summer Blockbuster. Considering the number of fans that will make this a movie a repeat stop on their Summer Movie schedule (yep, I am including myself in that number) there is a good chance that the Transformers Movie could take the top spot. And if nothing else there are hopes for those in Hollywood that this movie will help bring up the numbers for the rest of the Summer Blockbuster season.
