Toyota has announced a voluntary recall for 2006-07 model year Lexus GS 300 and GS 350 sedans; 2006-09 IS 250 models and 2006-08 Lexus IS 350 models in the North American market. These vehicles may have an incorrectly installed fuel pressure sensor, which has the potential to leak fuel if not torqued properly. Dealers will inspect the fitting and retorque if no leak is found. On vehicles with leaking fuel pressure sensors, dealers will install a replacement gasket and torque to the proper values.
Worldwide, Toyota is recalling an additional 1.3 million vehicles to inspect and repair a potentially faulty fuel delivery pipe and high pressure fuel pump check valve. This recall affects vehicles in Japan and the EU only, so North American customers are not impacted.
Customers will receive recall notification via first class mail once dealers have amassed replacement parts. Lexus owners who smell fuel when the vehicle is parked should call their dealer for service immediately, and owners with questions or concerns can reach Lexus’ Customer Satisfaction Hotline at (800) 255-3987. Lexus has also set up a website to provide owners with updates and detailed information; the URL is www.lexus.com/recall.
