Now here’s some great news for the boys and girls over at Dodge and Chrysler. Two of their new babies, the 2011 Dodge Charger and 2011 Chrysler 300 have just been issued Top Safety Pick’s by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This is great news considering that the previous generation models only earned the second lowest rating by the Insurance Institute for side impact protection even though they were side curtain airbag equipped. Additional praise was also given to the Charger for rollover protection as its roof was able to take a force that was equal to 5.37 times the car’s overall weight. You’ve got to hand it to Chrysler as they’re clawing their way back from the brink. In fact they now have 7 models under the Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep nameplates that have earned the Institute’s highest safety ratings.
