Everyone knows that Richard Hammond is a total muscle car nut. He’s owned a few classic Mustang’s as well as a Dodge Charger like the one in this review. Before he bought that car though he drove this one, which was apparently his first ever experience with a big American car. In bone stock form these cars are pretty terrible, trust me, I know, but with a few suspension tweaks, a new steering box and some real shocks these big old sleds can actually be made to go around a corner. The Charger is a car that, as Hammond says, “will always be cool” and it’s true. That coke bottle shape, combined with the massive tire frying torque of a well tuned 440 has the ability to make any man feel like a true rock star. Cars like the Charger evoke emotion, style and are cemented in pop culture thanks to movies like Bullit and Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. This IS the car your mother warned you about. It lives for big smokey burnouts and spits in the face of little foo-foo hybrids… it’s just awesome.
