Time Lapse Race Car Build Is Pure Gear Head Porn

I’ve often wondered what it takes to win races, and this video gives me a good idea. First, you need to start with a race shop that looks like this one. Sad to say, my own garage is nowhere near as well organized, well stocked or clean. Hell, even my house isn’t as clean as the Team West Coast Racing shop, which looks like you could eat off the floors. Or do surgery on them. Considering the bulk of my race car tuning was done in gravel parking lots, with borrowed hand tools, now I know why I never took better than 3rd place.

The GT3 spec Z4 arrived from BMW as a giant Revell model kit, containing hundreds of pieces that took the Team West Coast Racing mechanics some 600 hours to sort and build. I’d like to tell you how they did with it in their initial outings, but their website is entirely in Swedish, which really isn’t the same thing as German. I think that they either won their first race, or were victorious in the regional lutefisk eating championship: either way I say congratulations on a job well done.

If you want to relive your model-building youth and have the garage space, BMW would be happy to sell you a GT3 spec Z4 as well. Excluding VAT, the price of admission is about $470,000, plus the freight from Munich. If you can afford that much for a race car, chances are your shop is every bit as photogenic as the Team West Coast Racing facility.

I can watch almost anything Time Lapse, but this was better than most. I wish I knew the time between frames.
