Looking forward to the future article - If possible try and cover the nitrous benefits when coupled with a Diesel engine, we've seen some great results with it here in the UK.

Nitrous oxide is not "just" an oxidizer. It is a monopropellant. Meaning that when you get it hot enough it will spontaneously decompose and release a lot of energy. When used in a rocket engine it has an Isp of around 200 seconds. This compared to another common monopropellant, hydrazine, which is at 235. But it is pretty safe, non-toxic and you can actually breathe the exhaust products. Properly designed you could run an IC engine on N2O alone and the output would be nitrogen and oxygen gas. You can then add the fuel of your choice to amplify power to whatever level you want. The effect of increasing density of inlet gas may well be useful but I doubt it is the dominant effect. If that were the case then adding pure O2 would be even more valuable.

"At the most basic level, combustion is just fuel plus oxygen. Increase either one drastically, and you’re upping the power drastically."
Actually that is not really true, you need the right proportions of each. Too much of either and it does not work. Too much fuel quenches the fire. Too much air leans out the mix and causes misfires and other bad things. That is why dry systems are only for small HP gain and big HP systems require additional fuel adders such as higher fuel pressures and additional fuel injectors.
