There are only a handful of vehicles that can be considered as true icons. Possible candidates would be the Porsche 911, the Ford Model-T, the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air and of course, the Volkswagen Bus. The VW Bus is one of those rare vehicles that had the ability to define a generation. Generally associated with being the transport of choice for hippies around the world, the little rear drive, rear engine box on wheels carved out a niche for itself as the do it all machine that knew no boundaries. The Bus has been around in one form or another since 1950, and in that time it has garnered the praise of generations. The following short is a trailer for the upcoming feature length documentary entitled, “The Bus”. The film celebrates the 60th anniversary of Volkswagen’s people transporter and explorers how this unassuming vehicle became a modern day icon that has achieve cult status the world over.
