1. Baja 1000
The Baja 1000 is a yearly off-road race ranging from 600-900 miles through Mexico’s Baja peninsula. A variety of vehicle classes run simultaneously in a race whose winning times are often close to 30 hours. To make a full day and night racing through the desert even harder, the Baja 1000 is the only race we know of where spectators actually booby trap the track–often adding unseen jumps, pits, or even explosives. Drivers have also been kidnapped by the cartel, and both crime and mischief are rampant. 25 deaths have been confirmed as the direct result of the Baja 1000.
