Apparently in Ferris, Texas it’s completely ok to drink and drive as long as your female and flirt with the officers upon your traffic stop. The below video shows two police officers pulling over a suspected drunk driver. The driver, a young woman, steps out of her car and is then led back to the patrol car which stopped her. The officer then administers a breathalyzer test to which the woman blows a 0.136, well over the legal limit of 0.08. The girl then gets flirtatious with the officer, giggles and a few chuckles are then had by both parties. The officer administering the breathalyzer, officer Christopher Ellis of the Ferris police department, then decides to go ahead and cut the driver (that is legally drunk mind you) a break by letting her walk home. Before that decision is made, the passenger, 22-year-old Rebecca Bruce, gets out of the car and confronts the officer.
Bruce insists she is not drunk and asks to be administered a breathalyzer but is refused by the officers. Officer Ellis then proceeds to arrest Ms. Bruce (who wasn’t driving) for public intoxication and lets the drunk driver go free – are you kidding me? Obviously the entire scenario is ridiculous and the arresting officer should, at the very least be suspended. When the Ferris police department was contacted however, the local media basically got the brush off. Upon a review of the video, Monica Bishop, Bruce’s attorney, stated that,
“The first girl that he made contact with was awful flirtatious, and my client was clearly not flirtatious,” Bishop said.
So, for all you Ferris, TX women out there, it seems that if you do a little flirting with the local PD then you too can get out of driving drunk. Hell, if that’s all you have to do to beat a DWI stop down there, I wonder what you’d have to do to beat a murder rap?
