Subaru is having one hell of a good year in 2010, selling just about every Outback they can build. A newly announced recall will likely clog up their dealer service departments, since 73,698 Outback and Legacy models are affected.
Model year 2010 vehicles, built between February 16, 2009 and April 12, 2010, may have a steering wheel wiring harness prone to cracking from repeated flexing. If the insulation on the wiring harness fails, certain steering wheel functions may be impacted. Since this includes the airbags and horn, it’s worth getting the recall handled as soon as you can.
The recall began on July 7, and owners are being contacted by Subaru Of America. Owners with questions and concerns can reach Subaru’s customer service hotline at (800) 782-2783.
