Subaru Rally Vid Is A Real Life Version Of GT5

Posted in Cool Stuff, General, Racing, Subaru by Kurt Ernst | January 14th, 2011 | 1 Response |

If you race the B Spec series in Gran Turismo 5, you can toggle through camera angles to watch your utterly talentless driver stack your expensive race car lap after lap. Subaru of Canada must have liked that concept, so they decided to put four HD cameras on a real race car (a rally prepped Subaru WRX STI), driven by a racer with some serious talent, and let you choose the view you want. That’s Pat Richard behind the wheel, and the co-driver is Alan Ockwell. If you don’t know their names, chances are you don’t follow rallying in the U.S. or Canada: Richard was the Rally America Champion in 2004 and 2005, and was the Canadian National Champion in 2002, 2004, 2008 and 2009. Ockwell has been Richard’s co-driver since 2008, so he clearly knows a thing or two about calling the shots on rally stages. If only I could find talent like that on Gran Turismo 5, I could actually afford to buy the cars I need instead of constantly sinking money into repairs. Video after the break.
