Stupidity Claims at Least 22 Cars in Colorado.

I have a hard time understanding why people think they have the ability to drive on ice. If for instance you see a hill that is coated in snow, and surrounding it are dozens of crashed automobiles, why then would you feel the need to try and conquer it? I think for some people it’s an ego thing, and for others it’s just a lack of common sense. Another thing to remember is that even if your vehicle is equipped with four-wheel drive you can still get stuck. Sure it helps, but it is no way a guarantee that it will get you out of trouble. I’ve seen more boneheads go flying by me on the open road, only to wind up in a ditch due to their inability to stop. You see that’s the thing about ice and snow… it’s slippery. People, if you see conditions like the ones in the above video, please, do yourselves a favor and just stay home.

now we know why ppl get beater cars for winter !!

and also, most of these cars probably didnt have winter tires and a decent traction control system….it makes a hell of a difference !

Now I haven’t driven on ice before, but when you start sliding backwards down a hill wouldn’t it be a good idea to actually give it gas instead of just sitting there?

I saw a much longer version of this same video (a bit over 8 minutes) on Facebook. IMO, this just goes to prove that:

    1. Colorado drivers DO NOT necessarily know how to drive in the snow. The number of people who just locked the wheels and kept them locked was incredible.

    2. I’ve never seen a better video highlighting the need for real fleet compatibility laws. If you take out the cars that got hit in the side, you can see that cars/trucks where the bumpers matched suffered little to no damage. The cars/trucks where the bumpers missed/largely missed each other suffered major damage. The Feds should stop trying to legislate junk like back-up cameras and start with some meaningful laws like requiring all cars/trucks to have bumpers that actually hit each other.
