Street Racing: You’re Doing It Wrong

Posted in Corvette, Crashes, FAIL, Racing, Videos by Kurt Ernst | November 29th, 2011 | 6 Responses |

Here’s the scenario: a C5 Corvette throws down against a C6 Corvette at a traffic light in The Woodlands, Texas. What happens next is pure stupidity, since drag racing into a corner when you haven’t mastered the basics of car control isn’t likely to end well. The video’s been making the rounds, so our apologies if you’ve already seen the Thanksgiving eve crash.

If only there was a place you could go and test your performance car against others in a straight line. You know….like a 1/4 mile track or something….that has walls….and safety regulations/personnel…..

Nah. No one would ever build such a place.

@ds440, where’s the fun in that? No pedestrians to hit, no curbs to tear your suspension out…

Ha – exactly! Dodging children just adds to the fun! Plus, trees and mailboxes act sorta like a poor man’s safer barrier.

well that might be true for america but here in sweden there arent that many open dragstrips and those that are are really expensive to ride on (more than the sets of tires and the fuel in the tank) instead streetracing is quite common in sweden but its selfregulated and in some places really well organised, long open straights out of town w long braking zones and guards that stand a bit after the goal to se that you dont get any head on traffic and to keep speed down whe do them over 1/8 mile. and so far the worst that has happaned is that a supra got a blowout and went into a ditch and flipped over.
