Stop The Madness: A Mitsubishi Eclipse On 26″ Rims

The good thing about customizing a car is that you can build what you want, based on your own tastes. Take Pro Touring cars, for example: purists would cry “blasphemy” at modernizing a classic muscle car, while most of us would think, “cool, I wonder how it handles”. There are a lot of trends I just don’t get, but atop the list is huge rims and ridiculous lifts on cars. Why would you want to make something look like a kid’s toy and handle like a UPS delivery truck?

JVD Customworks, the shop that built this car, clearly went through a lot of effort. From the description, it sounds like they put an Eclipse body on a custom built ladder frame, then fabricated a 4wd system. The current Nissan motor will be replaced by a built LS1, which should probably make the car almost as fast as when it left the factory, but with far worse handling. Unsprung weight is your enemy, and it takes a lot of horsepower to overcome the weight and size of 26” wheels. As for me, I’ll pass, but I’d love to hear what you think. Win or fail?

cars with big wheels is like a woman with super huge tits, they thought bigger was better, until they got out of hand ;literally.also when a car is no longer fun to drive it would have to be a fail.because its no longer a car but a circus wagon.

EPIC FAIL, doing anything to a car that both decreases performance and makes it look that ugly is a fail.

I’d be less embarrassed to be seen in a smart car. Seriously.

The stupidity of this car is only “Eclipse”d by the stupidity of the person who thought it would look cool.
