You just expect certain places to have extraordinary things. Egypt has the pyramids, Rome has the Coliseum and the United States has the Grand Canyon. It now seems that Istanbul, Turkey wants to jump into the mix by offering up a 708,661 sq-ft. auto dealership that will not only be the largest one in the world, but will feature an on-roof race track for consumers to test drive new vehicles.
Named Autopia Europia, the facility is much more than a standard auto dealership. Featuring 200 individual showrooms, 24 banks, 48 service stations and more than 2,426 models representing over 400 brands (seriously, I can name like 12), this structure will be more of an automotive wonderland than anything else. Oh, and there will also be 52 bars. This way you can make sure you top off your tank before you drive on the roof mounted raceway that sits above your head.
Every aspect of the facility will also be accessible by automobile, meaning you can drive through the entire structure. From an architectural standpoint the sheer scope of this thing is mind boggling and I can’t even imagine what the cost would be. If it does actually see the light of day it will certainly put Istanbul on the map as one of my future destinations.
