Rod Millen’s 1998 Pikes Peak Hillclimb Toyota Tacoma

I know that this thing does not look, act or sound like a bone stock 1998 Toyota Tacoma, which is good, because if it did Rod Millen (father of Rhys Millen) would have lost the 1998 and 1999 Unlimited class at Pikes Peak. This truck (and I use that very loosely) is hairy, like King Kong / Mr. Big Nuts hairy. Picture this for a moment and you’ll see why. It’s got 1000 HP, but only does 132 mph, however it can hit 125 mph in just a tick under 5 seconds AND it does this by way of a 2.1-liter turbo charged 4 banger. Is this thing completely nutso or what?

The above video shows Mr. Millen driving at the 2007 Goodwood Festival of Speed, an event that is used to showcase rare race cars. Someone should have told Rod Millen that this WAS NOT a race, but a simple cruising run. Hell, he almost took out the pace vehicle by the finish line! I don’t know about you, but Mr. Millen has bigger potato’s than most people for even getting into that thing.
