Right-Wingers Want to Boycott GM!
Contrary to first impressions, this isn’t a partisan post – anybody calling for a boycott of GM would get a snarky comment from us. But honestly – a boycott? Of a company whose advertising and national image was almost synonymous with social conservatism, tailgate parties and light American lager? What in sam hill is going on? We want to know what these particular arch-conservative Republican rabble-rousers are smoking, because we want to avoid it.
Driven, it seems, by one Hugh Hewitt, a conservative talk show host who has vehemently opposed the bailout money that GM got. OK, that’s fair enough, the bailout was controversial across the political spectrum. But then you get the rhetoric about the “Obamaization” of GM and rants about the UAW’s stake in the new company. So you want to boycott a manufacturer that employs thousands of Americans because you disagree with their labor practices? Mr. Hewitt says, and we quote, “every dollar spent with GM is a dollar spent against free enterprise.” So there you have it. Check out the Detroit Bureau blog for more info.

Weird.
For years it was the right-wing thing to do to boycott foreign-made stuff.
Now they’re working hard to ensure our tax dollars do go to waste, as well as destroy a bunch of good US jobs.

There’s no need to boycott GM. No one wants their crappy, overpriced vehicles as it is (which is why they are bankrupt.) GM now has a captive client (the government) which will buy fleets of GM vehicles to keep it running. The irony is that it costs GM more to produce a vehicle than they get on the sales price so as the government buys up as many GM’s as it can the company itself will still be losing money.
Get ready to open your wallets… the US Government is about to pump another 30 billion dollars in a company that couldn’t otherwise exist on its own. This is nothing more than a jobs program now. We might as well have hired these UAW guys to dig ditches and then fill them in.
Drink more of the Koolaid guys.. mmm ‘ good.

Does anyone believe that if it were a Republican with the bailout idea, Limbaugh and crew would call it a brilliant idea?
