I can’t believe it’s actually December again… man, where did the time go. It seems like it was just yesterday when the big Christmas tree was going up in Rockefeller Center for 2009 and people were ice skating in circles in Central Park. Here at Ridelust.com we’ve had a pretty nutty year trying to bring you some of the best automotive news on the net. During that time we were also able to review a bunch of the newest cars for you guys as well. After some discussion we decided that we’d come up with a list of not the Top 10 Cars of 2010 like all those other blogs, but the Top 20 Cars of 2010. That’s right… we took it right to the next level! Some of these you’ll agree with and some you’ll no doubt crucify us over. Either way though we think this list is pretty spot on so feel free to check it out and let us know what you think.

i would think that maybe the SVT Raptor would make this list… but thats probably in the top 20 Douchebag-Mobiles of all time list…or the GM Hybrid SUV lineup…. probably falls into the same category as the raptor
The Lancia is absolutely stunning.
this list is laughable……cruze, cr-z, miata, volt, and a ford explorer!
how do these cars make the top 20 of the year… seriously ?
Here’s my $0.02:
Chevy Cruze – this is the car that Saturn SHOULD have been. It’s the best built entry level American car that I’ve ever seen or driven, and it’s every bit the equal of a Honda Civic or a Toyota Corolla. Sure, it’s late to the party, but it’s about to make one hell of an arrival. That said, it’s not an enthusiast oriented car – yet.
CR-Z – Yes, it’s still a parallel hybrid and yes, it’s still appallingly slow in any mode other than Sport, but it’s the first hybrid that has SOME entertainment value when equipped with the six speed manual. If you feel an obligation to go green and you don’t want a diesel, the CR-Z is as good as it gets for entertainment value.
Miata – Mike’s pick, but here’s my opinion: there is no other car in the Miata’s price point that does everything as well as the Miata. It’s been the segment leader, unchallenged, for the past 20 years.
Volt – I’ve hashed this to death , but I’ll summarize: the Volt may be the most significant car that America has produced in the past 50 years. Ignore the uninformed flag waving from the far right and drive one when you get a chance; it’s not like any other hybrid on the market and it’s not like any other car on the market. What’s more impressive is what could potentially come behind the Volt, as the technology matures and the costs go down.
Ford Explorer – the new Explorer takes the SUV in an entirely new direction, and that’s a good thing. Yes a vocal minority complains that the now-unibody design will suck off road, but guess what? The vast majority of buyers never drive it off road, and the new Explorer is a much better road vehicle.
Out of all the cars, the only one I would personally drive is the Mercedes SLS (sorry, I’m a snob like that) but I can understand WHY the cars on that list got chosen.
Volt – Makes sense since it’s a historic car, electric, making huge waves in the auto industry, tons of buzz about it, gets like 99 mpg
CTS- I can see why many auto enthusiasts would think it’s good looking; it really is good looking (not my personal style but I can still admit it’s good looking) and a lot of power.
Miata- I dunno, isn’t it a death trap? I remember reading that somewhere…
Fiat – I believe it’s there will be a Fiat for the U.S soon and it will be interesting to see how this tiny car will do here.
Bugatti – I don’t like the looks of this at all; it’s very strange looking. I prefer the Mercedes Benz Mclaren with the doors that open vertically…
