When we first heard about the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 we were bit skeptical as to whether or not Porsche would actually bring the car to light. Porsche fans lusted after the idea of a hopped up GT3 RS, but wondered that with the introduction of the 600 hp limited edition GT2 RS, if there was really room for it in the line-up. Well, let it be known that the boys from Germany not only think that there’s room, but they’ve now launched the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 configurator online so that 911 fans can spec out their own unique RS 4.0. The main difference between the base RS and RS 4.0 comes by way of the extra 50 hp that’s now produced by the flat-six mill that’s derived from the Porsche RSR race car. Keep in mind though that this puppy is not cheap. In fact if you really start going buck-wild with the configurator you can make its price head north of $200,000 very quickly. For that money you get a car that has a top speed of 193 mph and can lap the Nürburgring in 7 minutes and 27 seconds. Only 600 GT3 RS 4.0’s will be produced, so get over to the Porsche website and let the fun begin.
