2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ: RideLust Review
Man oh man… there are some fast friggin’ cars out there and they all have one goal in mind – get the fastest time around the famed Nurburgring. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Pagani and yes, even Chevrolet have taken a stab at getting their names into the record books. Granted that it may only be for a short while considering the record seems to get broken on a semi-regular basis, but either way, it’s cool to see these hammers of horsepower pine for the top spot.
In our latest Nurburgring adventure it seems that the new Pagani Zonda R set a sizzling new record of 6:47 according to Top Gear Italia. Ladies and gentleman, that is bookin’! Keep in mind that that record was set in the class of vehicles that are derived from road going production cars and built into full blown race machines. The previous record was held by Ferrari’s 599XX which obtained a time of 6:58 which means right now the boys in Maranello have dropped their cannoli’s and gone back to the drawing board. The Pagani Zonda R pumps out 750hp from its V12 AMG mill, blitzes to 60mph in 2.7 seconds and has a top speed of around 217mph. Zonda is the top dog at the moment but unfortunately we know that their record will only stand for a short time as I am sure there are others just waiting to steal the crown.

6:11 is the lap record. Until 6:10 is hit, it’s irrelevant.
