For those of you who have never towed a trailer behind your vehicle, I can tell you that it can be a harrowing experience if you’re not careful. Trailers are wonderful things, and can, if set-up properly, make your life a whole lot easier. Most people however simply overlook the basic safety protocols that go along with towing and thus, find themselves in scary situations. Take the video you see here for example. The driver looks to be using a BMW 5-series wagon, a vehicle that was never meant for towing high volume loads. In tow is a car trailer, loaded with a BMW 3-series whose combined weight is at least 5,000 lbs. which is way too much for that modified 5-Series wagon to be towing. This results in a very frightening incident when the trailer slowly loses control and literally pulls the tow vehicle off the road. So please, if you’re going to tow ANYTHING behind your car/truck/van understand the Do’s and Don’ts before you hitch anything up to the back of your ride.
