Video of Nissan’s latest GT-R hot lap have cropped up on the internet. The time? A very impressive 7 minutes and 26.7 seconds. Don’t cream your jeans yet, Nissan fan-boys, the Corvette ZR-1 still wears the pants at the house of Eifel with a 7 minute 26.4 second lap time. The blokes at Porsche, who announced a 7 minute 40 second lap time in the 2010 997 GT3 yesterday, are still claiming Nissan is bluffing and can’t net a faster time than 7 minutes and 54 seconds. Clash of the axis titans!
In order to best prepare for battle with the ever growing onslaught of name brand Nürburgring hotlap hunters, Nissan has opened the Nissan Sportscar Shop on the recently developed track side ‘Ring Boulevard.’ The 500 square meter shop features a showroom filled with, of course, all sorts of Nissan and Nismo branded products you can’t live without and, more importantly, display models of the R35 GT-R Spec-V and the newly released, 80-unit, Euro market only 370z Nürburgring Edition. Z ‘Ring edition offers a ‘Premium Ultimate Yellow’ paint job with rocker graphics, a Cobra performance exhaust system and 19-inch gunmetal OZ wheels shod in Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT meats. I’m spreading rumors that the car will be available next year in ‘Ultra Super Duper Mega Damn Awesome Green’ and ‘Never Disappointing Tantalizing Fast-Maker Erection Blue.’
Beginning in October Nissan will offer a whole bunch of wicked cool activities based out of the new shop including drift comps, track rides and car shows. Way better than Six-Flags.
