This video, found on Bangshift, is almost too incredible to believe. Insurance claims aside, no one was seriously injured in the accident, which occurred on a highway in Hong Kong. I’m pretty sure the scooter dude learned two valuable lessons: first, never rely on mirrors alone to see if the lane is clear, and second, dressing for the crash does not include flip flops, shorts and a polo shirt. The car driver was
a tool for going hammer down in the right lane, entirely correct in going hammer down in the right lane, as amped points out, since Hong Kong drives on the left side of the road.
I say the video is almost too incredible to believe because the same thing almost happened to me on the Autobahn. I was driving an unrestricted speed section about an hour out of Leipzig, in the middle lane, when a motorcyclist pulled directly into my lane and hammered his binders. You’d be amazed at how fast a Skoda Octavia TDI slows down when you really nail the brakes, and I was happy to find out that the car handles well under heavy braking. Unlike the driver in this video, I missed the guy on the bike by inches, but the incident proved to me that even Germans can drive with their Kopf im Arsche from time to time.
