Mazda 3

If you drive a 2007 to 2009 Mazda 3 or Mazda 5, heads up: Mazda will be sending you a recall notice to fix problems with the vehicle’s power steering. In a worst case scenario, rust (introduced during manufacturing) can cause the power steering pump to shut down, increasing the effort required to steer the car. Even without the power steering, drivers should be able to maintain control of their vehicles; despite this, three accidents have been attributed to the failure of Mazda power steering pumps.

Mazda will repair the affected vehicles by replacing the power steering pump and associated plumbing. Dates for the recall have yet to be announced, as it hasn’t even made the NHTSA website just yet. Owners with questions or concerns can reach Mazda’s customer service hotline at (800) 222-5500.
