The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is one of the most powerful production super cars on the planet. Its supercharged LS9 V8 pumps out a staggering 638 hp and 604 lb.- ft. of torque, which means that it’s capable of a top speed of 205 mph. That also means that it’s one of the hardest accelerating road going machines on the planet earth and Chevrolet has no problem letting the competition know. For this years 2011 ALMS race at Sebring Raceway in Sebring, FL the bow-tie boys are getting the most out the fact that from a power perspective, the Corvette simply had too much grunt, and thus they were asked to dial it back. In fact the ZR1 makes so much power in stock form that it simply crushes Porsche, Ferrari and BMW. For example, the Ferrari 458 Italia makes 560 hp, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS has 620 hp and BMW… well, their not even close. Granted these other exotic manufacturers may have some pretty impressive pedigrees behind them, but it’s good to know that America still builds some pretty impressive hammers.
