After almost two years of debate, negotiations and filming Top Gear America is finally set to premiere on November 21st on the History Channel. The first trailers for the show brought out a pretty lukewarm reception, but now that some time has past and the buzz around the show has grown, well, lets just say that I think the History Channel may have a winner on its hands. Hosts Tanner Foust, Rutledge Wood and Adam Ferrara are set to take us on an automotive journey the likes of which the American public has yet to see. Up until now the only option out there for real car enthusiasts was Top Gear UK, and as mainstream as it was with gear heads, it was never really publicized to the American audience.
People can say all they want about the hosts, but the fact of the matter is that I think these guys are going to be great together. Each host is bringing a little something different to the table and I think that the chemistry, action and laughs that we’re going to be treated to will be a much needed void for automotive enthusiasts here in the U.S. It’s inevitable that people are going to compare the new show to its counterpart from across the pond, which is fine, just as long as they know that with this new version of Top Gear, we’re going to be treated to a show with a little bit of American flare, some blue collar undertones and serious pavement pounding action.
