The four door coupe craze has been in full effect now for quite some time. We’ve got the Mercedes_Benz CLS, the Porsche Panamera, the new Audi A7 and the stunning Aston Martin Rapide. From a marketing standpoint these cars make perfect sense as they offer the best of both worlds for the enthusiast who wants all the performance of a modern super car, but needs the versatility of a back seat. These automobiles are beginning to garner quite a fan base and while they will never be a full replacement for a full-on two door super car, I have to say that they are coming awfully close.
Back in 2008 Lamborghini released the drop dead gorgeous Estoque concept car. Lamborghini did a brilliant job of incorporating the rear doors into the body lines without distorting the overall appeal of the car. Ques from such cars as the Reventon and Gallardo can also be seen in its design. After two years though people began to wonder if the Estoque was going to stay a concept or actually make it to production, but now, according to Autoblog.it, the Estoque may actually see the light of day.
Apparently someone at Bloomberg has it on good authority from a Lamborghini insider that the Estoque will in fact go into production. When asked about the Estoque however, Lamborghini President Stephan Winkelmann, vehemently denied its development because the Estoque goes against Lamborghini’s future goals of reducing mass emissions. Hopefully Winkelmann was just throwing up a smokescreen because it would be a damn shame if Lamborghini failed to produce one the best looking concept cars of the last 10 years.
