2010 Kia Soul

Kia has announced a recall for 2010 model year Soul MPVs and 2011 model year Sorrento crossovers, to address a potentially bad solder connection in the wiring harness for the interior accent lighting. Approximately 24,000 Souls and 11,000 Sorrentos are affected by the recall, which is expected to begin later this month.

In a worst case scenario, the bad connection can create an electrical short resulting in a fire, although no reports of fires, accidents or injuries have been received to date. Instead, Kia is learning from Toyota’s lesson, and attempting to be as proactive as possible in regards to vehicle safety.

Kia dealers will inspect the wiring harnesses and replace if necessary. Owners will be contacted via mail, but those with questions or concerns can reach Kia’s customer service hotline at (800) 333-4542.
