Ken Block’s Youtube video’s already reign supreme when it comes to Gymkhana style road events, racking up over 30 million views. The first video was done in a lightly modified Subaru Impreza STI and took the car community by storm. Then Block put out Gymkhana II pushing the envelope even further. This time he did it in a new Subaru STI that was set-up specifically for the event itself.
Earlier this year however Block switched manufacturers from Subaru to Ford. What that meant for Ken Block was a new car in the way of a Ford Fiesta, and then of course, a new Gymkhana video. In a press release quote Ken Block stated:
“The great thing about Gymkhana for me is that it is amazingly fun to do,” “It’s taking some of the best parts of rally racing and removing a bit of the stress that is involved with competing, allowing me to just go out and play in an amazing car. I can’t wait to start filming in the Gymkhana THREE 2011 Ford Fiesta. I just did one day of testing in the U.K. with it and it is extremely fun to drive. It has amazing power and control. ”
The new Fiesta that Block will pilot in the new video was built by Olsbergs Motorsport Evolution (MSE) and weighs in at only 2,425-pounds. It also puts out an amazing 650 HP (restricted down from 850 HP) in order to give Block the torque he needs to properly control the car. The best stat of all though is the 0-60 time of just 2 seconds…. yep, that’s right… 2 seconds. I am sure I can speak for the rest of the automotive internet community when I say that this will probably be one of the most anticipated video’s of the 2010 season.
