Pontiac G8 GXP

Don’t you just love it when someones ego gets the best of them. I mean here we have the case of a judge and a cop. Two individuals that one would think would be educated and trained in the ways of law enforcement. Sometimes though ego and political bullshit get in the way of doing the right thing, just so someone can prove a point. This is exactly what’s happening to a forum member of the G8Board.com. Member “jackalope” drives a Pontiac G8 GT and was fined $85 for the use of illegally installed taillights. The driver then went to court and proved to the judge and the police officer that the lights in question were in fact factory installed and were approved by the DOT (Department of Transportation). Apparently though this mattered not to the Judge or the officer because they held up the enforcement of the fine.

We all know that police officers have it rough, they have a tough and thankless job that is for the most part, met with criticism by members of the general public. HOWEVER, when instances like this occur it does make you wonder if people really are getting a fair shake. The individual in question, although flying a bit off the handle, has done the right thing and taken the time to get the correct information to prove that he has done nothing wrong, yet the judge still upheld the ruling. Now, some may say that it’s just a small fine due to a taillight, but the fact is it’s much bigger than that. Take a look at the following thread and make up your own mind, then chime back in with your opinions as I’m very curious to know what you think.

I couldn’t find the part about the fine being upheld in court or the reasoning behind it. It disturbs me that the police officer was googling the taillights as the basis for the ticket though.

No one likes to be proved wrong, especially authoritative figures that hold themselves above the “common man” …. It is amzing how logic gets thrown out the door when a power trip comes into play…..

I think the most sound advice that was given was ignored. GM needs to use their legal team to represent this guy.

If you follow the thread and the facts, the person taken to court actually didn’t have the factory tails on his G8, he had altered them and there are pictures of his ride with the non-factory installed tails. He even bragged about other non-factory and illegal mods he made on his car that he didn’t get caught with. Amazin what people think they can get away with and the lengths they will go to prove some kind of point.
