We all know that Jeep is on the verge of releasing its new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee to the public in the next month or two. To say it is a highly anticipated release is an understatement because lets face it, Chrysler has a lot riding on this thing. The upcoming Grand Cherokee will be the fourth generation and in it Jeep has packed a pretty trick assortment of goodies. The above video is somewhat void of action, but it does show the new Jeep climbing down some rocks in MOAB, UT with it’s new air suspension maxed to the hilt.
There have also been some new photos released that give us a little more insight into what we can expect from the new Jeep. The interior for example looks to be very well laid out with nice ergonomics for both the driver and passenger. A big speedometer and tachometer are the focal point of the dash with the climate and audio system controls in plain sight and within arms reach.
When I first saw the little round knob at the base of the shifter I began to get nervous as I thought that Chrysler may have developed its own version of the dreaded iDrive. Thankfully though this knob controls no less than eight suspension settings… nicely done Jeep.
Rear cargo space looks to be improved as well. From the pics we can see an integrated audio sub-woofer, a small in-panel storage unit and what looks to be two additional power ports. Rear cargo capacity is said to be in the neighborhood of 36 cubic feet and that right there is a nice improvement on the outgoing unit. All in all the new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee looks to be a great replacement and departure from the previous body style. The new lines are fresh, the technology is new and like I said earlier, Jeep has a lot riding on this bad boy so hopefully everything will come together in a great new wrapper.
