When released in the United States in 1970 the Datsun 240Z sat up and took the American sports car world by storm. Here was a beautifully designed two-seat sports car with a 151 hp inline-6 engine that was torquey, fun to drive and a nice alternative to the big-block powered muscle cars of the era. Known in Japan as the Fairlady Z, the Datsun 240Z was designed specifically with American roads in mind. Jay Leno recently visited Nissan’s Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura in Japan to ask a burning question: will Nissan resurrect the 240Z to celebrate their 80th anniversary?
