2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8

If you’re a fan of Dodge (as ya’ll know I am) then you’ll understand when I say that this new 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with the 392 HEMI makes me tingle. The first generation SRT8 Challenger came equipped with a 6.1-liter HEMI that pumped out 425hp / 425 lb-ft of torque. It’s the same mill that I have in my SRT8 Magnum, so I can tell you first hand that it’s got some grunt behind it. For 2011 though power is up to 470 hp / 470 lb-ft of torque, with peak power placed right in the middle of the mid-range where you need it most. These cars really are wonderful. They’re not track cars mind you but fabulous grand touring cars that gobble up mile after mile of super-slab without a care in the world. For 2011 Dodge has also introduced 4-cylinder mode which deactivates 4 of the 8 cylinders when the car is just cruising. This means improved mileage to the tune of 23 hwy, that’s up 4 mpg from previous SRT8 models. Take a seat now and watch as Jay Leno, and Dodge CEO Ralph Gilles put the new 392 Challenger through its paces. Click through for the video.
