2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ: RideLust Review
As movie cars go, it doesn’t get much cooler than the Aston Martin DB5 driven by Sean Connery in “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball”. First, it’s a vintage Aston Martin, which pretty much redlines the coolometer on it’s own. In case you’re still skeptical, consider the cars aftermarket upgrades, which include a switch-on-the-fly license plate; a rear bulletproof shield; twin, bumper-mounted machine guns; tire-slicing, expandable knock- off caps; ejector seat; oil slick generator; smokescreen generator and tire spike spreader. If I could add those options to my FJ Cruiser, I’d be a happy man.
The DB5 Bond car is one of several built for the Bond films, and the only remaining example that featured Sean Connery behind the wheel. In 1969 it was sold to Jerry Lee, an American broadcaster, for $12,000 and remained in his collection until now. It will be auctioned at the upcoming RM Auction, “The Automobiles of London”, with proceeds going to support the Jerry Lee Foundation. The expected hammer price is somewhere north of $5 million.
