Inflatable Airbag Jacket For Motorcyclists Saved A Life Already

Honda was the first company to come out with a motorcycle air bag system on their super gigantic ultra-touring Goldwing back in 2006. That showed the increasing amount of energy that companies are putting towards trying to make bikes safer for riders. But even before that, an airbag jacket technology was being developed and marketed.

Airbag jackets are just jackets that have special pockets that get blasted full of compressed air when a cord is yanked out. You attach the cord to the bike, and when the driver is thrown in an accident, the cord gets pulled, jacket inflates, and offers some protection for then the driver hits the ground. When used in conjunction with a full-face helmet, it can save your life.

Check out this video of a Maryland man who says the airbag jacket saved his life:

You can’t ride fast if you’re dead, so safety is one of the most important aspects of owning a bike. We wrote before about the importance of getting a full face helmet to protect your chin. But helmets just protect your head, they’re not that helpful if you’re body is a mess after a crash.

For under $500 dollars, these jackets are well worth it.

We can’t all be this good:

So if you own a bike, you might want to look in to one of those inflatable jackets.
