It seems like we’re putting up a few stories a day about recalls from various manufacturers. Is quality control slipping, or have cars become so complex that something is bound to fail during a vehicle’s lifetime?
This time it’s Infiniti, recalling 134,000 G35 models for potentially faulty airbags. The recall extends to 2005 and 2006 model year sedans, as well as 2005 to 2007 model year coupes. The wiring harness used in the airbag assembly has shown abnormal wear, and may not send the electrical signal required to deploy the airbags in the event of a crash. Nissan is still ramping up for the recall, and details of a fix (new airbag wiring harness, presumably) have yet to be announced. Customers with questions or concerns can reach Infiniti customer service at (800) 662-6200.
