Infiniti Essence Concept Stuns With Impressive Debut At Geneva

We’ll admit, ever since word leaked a few weeks ago that the new Infiniti concept would debut at the Geneva Motor Show with a matching Louis Vuitton luggage set, we were itching for a reason to loathe this car. Our experiences with 2-door Infiniti’s have usually involved heated verbal exchanges with fake-tanned, over-gelled, Dolce & Gabbana-clad New Jersey denizens, so it was with understandably great trepidation that we approached the Infiniti Essence Concept. After feebly attempting to dismiss it as a poorly executed Ferrari California-wannabe, we were forced to reconcile the fact that not only could we tolerate the Essence Concept, we actually kind of liked it too. Although we could do without the Louis luggage, the Essence Concept is an undeniably breathtaking vehicle to which we offer a heartfelt tip o’ the hat.
According to Senior Vice President of Design, Shiro Nakamura, “The design embeds a sense of mystery, a sense of being in the know. Essence is not about showing signs of wealth and success,” which is perhaps exactly why we enjoy it. The unfortunate stigma attached to the Infiniti G37 is nowhere to be seen here, allowing the Essence to stand out as true luxury, super performance car. Outfitted with a twin turbocharged version of Infiniti’s 3.7-liter V6 and an in-house developed electric propulsion “3D” motor, the Essence concept’s advanced powertrain is capable of putting out a total of 592 horsepower. As if its projected performance weren’t enough, the Infiniti’s interior design is absolutely stunning – but don’t just take our word for it, check out the full photo gallery below.

This car is sooo cool. I love the fact that a luxury car can rock a twin-turbo hybrid power plant! And the gauge cluster reminds me of an expensive watch.
