Audi A1

Being from the Northeast driving on ice and snow was a way of life during the winter months. For some people (like me) it’s actually quite a bit of fun, but for others it can be a harrowing experience. Now while most people think you need to have an AWD or FWD vehicle to pilot foul weather safely I can tell you from experience that this is not the case. Hell, just give me a good posi-traction rear wheel drive car and a set of chains and I’ll get through anything. Audi however has made its name by selling vehicles that excel in crappy weather. In fact that’s really what their stellar Quattro system is all about. Recently DRIVE’s Chris Harris had the chance to flog a limited edition (1 of 333) Audi A1 Quattro on a frozen lake in Sweden. It’s a cute little bugger of a car, but at 40,000 Euro ($53,000 U.S.), it may just be a wee-bit overpriced.

The well-known German fine-tuner ABT has provided an appealing modified form to the new A1 Quattro edition, and among the revisions, the most important is considerable improvement in the output power, which has been increased from 256-hp to 307-hp.
