2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ: RideLust Review

This past weekend I took a little trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles and back. That’s 400 miles there, 400 miles back and about 300 around town miles. At first I was going to take my ’68 Charger and stretch its legs a bit, but at 10 mpg and after figuring out that it would’ve cost me over $500.00 in fuel, I decided against it. Then I considered taking my Dodge Magnum SRT8. However at a combined mpg of 16 mpg that would’ve run me over $300.00. My solution? I rented a Chevrolet Cruze from Hertz for $85 for the weekend, used my own insurance and spent a total of $120 in fuel. So, for just a tad over $200 I got there and back without using any of my own cars.
Damn… I really need to think about updating my garage.
I live fuel economy. I will retire with the $ saved. I only drive stick and rev the uknowwhat out of um so its still kinda fun.
The advantage to driving stick, at least for fuel economy, is the opportunity to minimize revs and in doing so get better fuel economy. haha I don’t mean to ruin your fun though, by all means rev the shit out of it. That’s what I do too with my stellar 90hp SUV.
I would rather pay the extra $100 and have more fun driving the SRT8.
