2011 Hyundai Sonata

Do you drive a new Hyundai Sonata? A lot of people can answer “yes” to that question, since the new Sonata is currently third in midsize sedan segment sales. If you’re one of those people, heads up: Hyundai is recalling some 140,000 2011 Sonata sedans to investigate the steering column intermediate shaft universal joint. At assembly, some connections may have been improperly built or tightened, which could lead to loss of steering in a worst case scenario.

The models in question were built between December 11,2009 and September 10, 2010. Dealers will inspect the steering column intermediate shaft universal joint and repair or re-torque as necessary. Customers will also receive an update to their Sonata’s steering software as part of the service.

Hyundai will begin notifying customers in October, but 2011 Sonata owners with questions or concerns can reach Hyundai America’s customer service hotline at (800) 633-5151.
