For next month’s SEMA show in Vegas, GM has decided to get down and dirty with their on-again-off-again lover, HUMMER, with the introduction of 3 HUMMER H3 concepts. Surprising given the very public problems GM and HUMMER have had in recent months, I’m nevertheless impressed by the loyalty the General is at least pretending to possess. Forgoing to often tasteless aftermarket accessories like TV screens and 6-ft chrome rims, GM opted to keep the HUMMER concepts as practical as possible while still living up to SEMA standards.

1. HUMMER H3T Weekend Warrior

A souped-up version of HUMMER’s newest addition to the family, the H3T pickup truck, the H3T Weekend Warrior is more of a performance upgrade than anything else. Switching out stock accessories in favor of a an LS2 cylinder head, modified high-lift camshaft, and a custom 3.5in exhaust, the H3T’s 5.3L V8 jumps in output from 300-hp to 370-hp. To compliment the power boost, the H3T Weekend Warrior has also been fitted with a modified suspension, featuring Light Racing Jounce Shocks, Rod Hall Racing piggyback performance reservoirs, and set of 35″ BF Goodrich Baja T/A tires.

2. H3 X Alpha Concept

The tamest of the three, the H3 X Alpha Concept doesn’t appear to be a radical modification of the current H3 Alpha in any sense of the word. While some might view the H3X Alpha as almost boring, hardcore HUMMER fans will appreciate the restraint shown in regards to chrome accessories. Tastefully limiting the metallic mods to the roof crossbows, the fuel tank door, and the 18-inch wheels, the H3 Alpha X Concept might hit SEMA ’08 as the most subdued aftermarket HUMMER on record.

3. H3 Alpha Four Wheeler Trailhugger

Created by the off-roading fanatics at Four Wheeler Magazine, the H3 Alpha Trailhugger concept is definitely the most rugged of the three earth roamers. Ditching the high-gloss finish of the Victory Red paint job via a PPG flattening agent, the H3 Alpha Trailhugger is one of those outdoors-y broads who isn’t about to make a fuss over her makeup. Taking the make-under one step further, the Four Wheeler design squad scoffed at the idea of chrome and opted instead to paint the 16-inch Simulock wheels a muted, matte black. Still a work in progress, Four Wheeler‘s warhorse won’t be completed until right before its schedule SEMA debut in a few weeks, but expect to see the finished product sporting a Gobi Stealth roof rack, wireless remote-operated perimeter lighting system (with 10 PIAA 2100XT lamps), Warn XD9000 winch replete with winchline.com’s synthetic rope and hawse fairlead, DeFelice winch mount system, and an Up Armor skid plate.
