2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ: RideLust Review
Honda’s taken a lot of flack lately for the direction they’re moving in, especially from enthusiasts. The company once looked to for innovation is now catching a significant amount of grief for stale designs and downgraded interior materials. I haven’t seen the new Civics up close and personal yet, but I’ve heard that the new interiors are a step down from the last generation in terms of quality and material. I’ll reserve judgement until I get a chance to see and drive the new models, but I’ll give Honda props for building a better looking interior than the last generation.
Their new ad campaign is best described as, um, bizarre. It features a lumberjack, a zombie, a troll, a Ninja and a Mexican wrestler, with the theme being “we’re all different, and there’s a Honda Civic for everyone”. That’s a great sentiment, and I personally can’t wait to drive the new Civic Si, but let’s be real here: how many of us hang out with mythical creatures who live under bridges? Zombies, at least currently, remain the stuff of science fiction (although who among us doesn’t laugh at a good just-lost-my-body-part joke?), and lumberjacks drive pickups. Ever try to fit a logging chainsaw into a Civic sedan? Anyway, enjoy the commercials below and let me know what you think. Is Honda moving in the right direction, or do they need to take a step back?

WTF HONDA?
its pretty funny
There’s commercials that are so cheesy they’re funny, and then theirs these. They’re so cheesy they’ve gone beyond ironically cheesy but funny. They’re terrible in my opinion.
Set, I’m with you on this one…
I honestly can’t imagine how these commercials are going to get anyone into a showroom – or actually sell more Civics.
“Um, yes, I’d like to test drive the new Civic Hybrid, because I want to be like the lumberjack in the commercial…” Or, “hey that zombie looked like a party animal, maybe if I buy a new Civic sedan, I can be…like…him”.
Just not feeling it Honda, sorry.
commercial-bad; civic-worse hyundais are a bit over the top design wise, but honda better be liking their dust
