Lewis Hamilton has qualified his McLaren Mercedes on pole position for today’s Canadian Grand Prix, besting the dominant Red Bull Renault team for the first time this season. Starting alongside Hamilton will be the Red Bull Renault of Mark Webber, followed by the second row cars of Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull Renault) and Fernando Alonso (Ferrari). Hamilton’s teammate, Jenson Button, starts from the fifth position.

Both Felipe Massa (Ferrari) and Michael Schumacher (Mercedes) struggled in qualifying, with Massa starting from seventh and Schumacher starting from thirteenth on the grid, his worst of the season. Force India, on the other hand, is enjoying their best qualifying performance of the season, with driver Vitantonio Liuzzi starting from sixth and his teammate, Adrian Sutil, starting from ninth.

The race will be aired on Fox television at 1:30 Eastern Time.
