GTbyCITROEN GranTurismo5 Concept Headed For Production
Unveiled at the Paris Auto Show back in October, the Sony PlayStation and Citroën partnership vehicle, the GTbyCITROEN, was originally introduced as a concept car intended solely to promote the release of PS3’s Gran Turismo Prolouge5. At the time of its debut, Citroën took great pains to stress that the GTbyCITROEN was not intended for production, and although the first couple reminders didn’t give us much pause, after “Will never be produced” started getting first-paragraph placement in several press releases, we (read: conspiracy theorist-inclined auto bloggers) began to grow suspicious. Sure enough, two months after hitting the Paris show floor, word has come through that the GTbyCITROEN is headed for production – but only in very limited numbers.
Although nothing is confirmed, rumors indicate that initial production units will be limited to only 20 models of the GTbyCITROEN. While this is purely circumstantial, we suspect that the “initial” production vehicles possess the very strong potential of becoming the “only” production vehicles inasmuch we can’t imagine a car with a novelty fan base not entirely dissimilar in trend of the that of the DeLorean enjoying a very lengthy production run.
