I'm glad they're reviving it, 'cause I know for a fact a similar program worked in Germany. I think the US deserves a taste of clean energy cars. Maybe they can mark them down, below $35,000 and hope no one in government takes notice of what they're trying to unload on consumers. Even if this thing passes, I think I'm going to keep my 1972 Volvo 142E sedan instead of trade it in on a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo - not that an Aveo wouldn't be a welcome addition, as a grocery getter. Maybe what they should do is just allow half the purchase price, of any car under $15,000 that gets 27 mpg (or better), against filings of 2008 taxes; and if your taxes are less than the $15,000, the IRS sends you a check, to do with, as you please.
