Frustrated Pilots Beat Cabbie After Ride Back From Strip Club

JetBlue pilots William Hart Smith and Brad Leopard were arrested on Sunday and charged with two counts of theft and one count of felony battery after allegedly attacking Miami cab driver Juan Martin. According to Martin, he picked Smith and Leopard up at the Solid Gold strip club around 2am and was instructed to take them to the nearest Subway. When Martin delivered them to their destination, Smith and Leopard began to contest the $9 cab fare, eventually exiting the vehicle, refusing to pay. When Martin pursued them, demanding they settle their tab, the two men angrily responded, “Who do you think we are? Tourists?” Smith and Martin then proceeded to sufficiently kick Martin’s ass, right under the watchful eye of Subway’s surveillance camera. By the time witnesses had summoned police to the scene, Martin was left with several bruises, a broken ankle, and a concussion.

According to the Miami Herald, a spokeswoman for JetBlue declined to confirm whether Smith and Leopard were still employed by the airline in light of their arrest, but did say “We are continuing to monitor the case.”
