1964 Ford Mustang

It’s been almost 50 years since the Ford Mustang debuted at the 1964 New York World’s Fair. Ford advertised the Mustang as the car that appealed to the dreamer in all of us. When launched buyers could choose from a straight-6 or have their choice of up to 3 different V8 engines. With options like power steering and brakes, available convertible top and bucket seats, the Mustang appealed to those who wanted a car that exemplified fun at a relatively inexpensive price. Nowadays there are literally millions of Mustangs roaming the streets, however if you want to see the car that started it all, simply click through and enjoy.

That’s a great old commercial – great find. I think the emphasis on the grille is interesting, and the cheesy white “all american” young people are obviously over the top. Still, I think the basic message stands the test of time – this is a car you can have fun in.
